A Perfect Weekend in Prague
Spending a weekend in Prague is like stepping into a fairytale—cobblestone streets, grand castles, and charming cafes make it a perfect city break. I visited with my sister in November and didn’t have any expectations. It’s not just for stag do’s, Prague offers a perfect blend of history, culture, and modern delights.
We landed in Prague on Saturday morning and decided to get public transport into the city centre.
Travel tip: Prague is a walkable city but I’d recommend buying a 72-hour travel pass at the bus stop outside of the airport. This cost us £11 each and was an absolute lifesaver for travelling to and from Prague airport, and for travelling to neighbourhoods that are a bit further away from the city centre.
We stayed in Hotel BOOKQUET. We felt really safe and the hotel staff were lovely. It was only a five minute walk to the Charles Bridge, so it was in a great location as well.
Things to do in Prague
There are so many things to do in Prague and a lot of them are free.
Explore Charles Bridge – Stroll across this historic bridge early in the morning to avoid crowds and capture beautiful photos.
Cruise on the Vltava River – Experience Prague’s beauty from the water - I would recommend doing this at sunset at the beginning of your trip and maybe not in winter… we were freezing!
Prague Castle & St. Vitus Cathedral – Wander through the castle grounds and enjoy breathtaking city views.
Sunset at Letná Park – Enjoy a peaceful moment with a panoramic view of Prague’s rooftops. You might even catch a proposal like we did!
Visit the Lennon Wall – A symbol of peace and creativity, this is on all of the usual ‘things to do in Prague’ lists, but we found this underwhelming.
Klementinum Library and Astronomical Tower - Stunning library and another spot for a panoramic view of the city.
Exploring Czech cuisine
Traditional Czech dishes include goulash and dumplings and we tried some of the modern takes on these at the below restaurants.
Vycep - This is a must-visit when in Prague. The restaurant had quite a relaxed vibe but the food was incredible and I’d recommend the potato dumpling filled with wild boar.
Kantyna - This relaxed canteen had amazing Czech food.
Manifesto market - lots of food options and recommended on TikTok but wasn’t anything special and felt out of the way.
Eska - A modern Czech dining experience. We went for pastries in the afternoon but would go back and try their dinner menu.
Dim Sum Spot Palackeho - This wasn’t Czech food but I would recommend it!
Nightlife
Prague has great nightlife - it isn’t all stag do’s like we thought. We felt safe in every bar that we went to and everyone we spoke to was friendly.
Our favourite bars were Hemingway and Groove Bar. We didn’t make it to Anonymous Shrinks Office as you really need to book this in advance.
Travel tip: Check out the restaurants and bars you want to visit whilst in Prague and book any that seem popular. That way you won’t be disappointed!
A great city that I’ll visit again
I’ve already recommended this city to all of my friends and family and I’m sure I’ll be visiting again in the future. A weekend in Prague offers an unforgettable mix of history, beauty, and modern elegance. Whether you’re exploring solo or with friends, this enchanting city welcomes you with open arms.
